In mid-April, the supply chain consortium Rx-360 published a “white paper” that describes the concept of a comprehensive supply chain security (SCS) management system. The goal is to provide a foundation for a maturity model that can drive measurable and sustainable improvement of SCS practices.
The paper – created by Rx-360 member company SCS experts – provides industry and other stakeholders with a comprehensive overview of fundamental elements that can be considered for a mature SCS program. It also provides an introduction to other key program elements that will be expanded on in subsequent white papers and guidelines.
Pfizer Senior Director of Supply Chain Security and co-leader of the Rx-360 Supply Chain Initiative Brian Johnson commented that “the vision behind establishing Rx360’s new Supply Chain Security Team last year was to get subject matter experts from across the entire supply chain working together on a holistic approach to enhance supply chain integrity. This first paper on SCS management systems is outstanding and really delivers on that vision.”
Additional Rx-360 documents are being developed on several topics and are planned to be released soon, including: ● white papers on cargo theft risk assessment and threats/monitoring processes, and ● a guideline for audits and assessments of third party providers.
Rx-360 plans to conduct free webinars after the release of each document to explain how to implement the concepts contained within them.
