Following the resignation of HHS Secretary Tom Price over criticism he spent taxpayer money on unwarranted private flights, President Trump appointed former Acting Assistant Secretary Don Wright as Acting Secretary. Beginning his government career in senior executive roles under the George W. Bush administration – including as director of the Office of Occupational Medicine for OSHA – Wright has served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health and Director of the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) since January 2012.
