India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) plans to increase surprise domestic inspections in manufacturing plants across the country with a goal of ensuring the plants meet GMP requirements of the countries where the drug is being exported, Pharmabiz is reporting. The inspectors will use the WHO GMPs as the auditing standard, using a checklist to ensure that there is uniformity of inspections. In preparation for the increased regulatory oversight, Indian regulators have been providing additional training for inspectors (IPQ February 22, 2016) and adding more inspectors (IPQ January 22, 2016).
